Painful bumps after 2nd DCIS and Masctomy/Recon
Hey ladies, So its been a little while since ive been here, just trying to live a little normalish life and not focus on breast cancer all the time. Ive had dcis with radiation/lumpectomy, then another Dcis and bi-Masectomy with recon. Soo I have many lumps and bumps with recon ,fat grafts etc, but I have a tiny pebble I can feel and its quite painful. Since I had all of my surgeries at mayo no one really wants to see you locally, not sure I trust them anyhoo. I do need to fine a local follow up for peace of mind. What are we suppose to do after meastomy/recon? Look for bumps? Ive always been told we will never have another mammogram. Im hoping someone can share their personal info on a painful lump and what to expect.

sorry for your problem, can you call Mayo and ask their opinion? or guess I would see my PCD and ask her opinion as well, sounds like a mamo would be helpfu

If you have something that feels like a pebble, it does need to be followed up. They can do a breast MRI or ultrasound. Call Mayo or call your PCP or gyn doc or an MO who can get things rolling.

So I did get an apt in Des Moines for next week.(Katzmann breast center) I swear sometimes the front desk person has no concept of what women are feeling/going through. She asks grufly- Is it actually palpable? Duhhh, that's why im concerned and calling your office, plus it hurts like hell!!! Her comments were wellll, not sure we can see you since we did not do your surgery...... what! That is ridiculous I say.(oops, no filter here) :)They will still bill the max they can to my insurance so whats the big deal? Not to mention the same cancer clinic did my 7 weeks of radiation. They just get a burr under their saddle because sometimes people want a second opinion and those peeps may go elsewhere for the big surgery(BLMS) So im getting my pathology reports from mayo and they plan to do an ultrasound. REally painful last night but better today, so hoping its something else unrelated to C. I could make an aptt, wait weeks then haul my ass up to mayo, but I really need a local Doc for yearly checks, my gyno is just not cutting it for breast exams) thanks everyone for sending me a message, it just helps to know others actually DO get how a little lump can wreck your day.

Update, I was able to get in for an ultrasound, took hours as Doc was running late. She looked frazzled just coming out of a late surgery and was rushing me along. Several questions and an ultrasound she decided it could be a suture, fat necrosis, hormones, too much stress, too much caffeine or ? but did not look like anything worrisome. The pain and lump had deflated by the time I was able to get into apt a week later, so sounds like good news I guess.??
