Need Help!!! My Friend has Colon Cancers Mets

Please I need your help.

I have stage 4 Breast Cancer Mets called (HER2 NEU positive). BUT my close friend has been diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer and he started chemo but not he has been told it has spread to his lungs and both hips. I  trying to help him as he doesn't have a lot of support from his family.

The big issues he is having is diarrhea. He asked his doctor in seeing a nutritionist but they told him he doesn't need one which I feel its insane. Does anyone here have colon cancer or if theirs spread like his what types od foods should he avoid or eat because his diarrhea is way to often and he feels just lost. PLEASE HELP provide us with Doses or Don'ts...PLEASE HELP??

 Thank you: Chrystie

Chrystie, One of my dear friends is stage IV colon cancer. She has the same problem as your friend, but then it will swing the other way, can't win. She was told not to eat any cruciferious veg, like brussel sprouts, cabbage etc & no fruits & veg with a skin, so no peas, corn etc. So most things that are considered healthy. She eats peeled carrots & potatoes, asparagus. She can eat apple sauce, but not raw apple even peeled. It's trial & error I'm afraid. She eats very small amounts several times a day which seems to help somewhat.

When he goes for chemo there should be a Dr's appt that he gets along with that & the Dr's are usually quite helpful with dietary needs as going through chemo presents a whole list of eating challenges. I never found the dieticians at the Cancer clinic to be of a lot of help, they seem to be of the opinion that if we just eat fruits & veg we'll be ok.

If you have any specific questions I could ask my friend if she has any wisdom. I know this isn't a lot of help, but the best I can offer... hugs, GG

My mom died of metastatic colon cancer, and was hospitalized with awful diarrhea at one point. The only thing that helped was tincture of opium. It's really old, and I'm not sure many doctors still prescribe it, but it might be worth asking. Also, she found plain white sandwich bread seemed to help (or, as she called it, "gummy white bread").
