Tamoxifen worries

Options

Ok. Trying to figure out if I should be worried. Have been on tamoxifen for almost three years. In he last 6 weeks, I have had spotting/ bleeding of a light variety 5 times, each time for a few days. I have also been completely fatigued, can't catch up on sleep and been fighting off migraines. I do sometimes have migraines with my period. My obgym says we need to do a sonohistogram (?) to see what is happening and will do a biopsy at the same time. How worried do I need to be?

hannahstripe I had the same thing happen to me earlier this year. I was on tamoxifen for almost three years and started spotting. I had a sonohysterogram, a biopsy and an ultrasound. I did have minor surgery to have many polyps removed. It all turned out okay. My gynecologist told me she has seen this happen many times and it has never resulted in finding cancer from tamoxifen. My onc did move me to aromasin. Take care

thank you so much for your response. That makes me feel better. My ob/gyn said it could be polyps or could be hormonal. I wonder what they have to do, if it is hormonal - that worries me more I guess as my breast cancer was er and pr positive, both over 90%. I guess I worry about being taken off tamoxifen as I am not in menopause yet. I appreciate your response. It helps to know others have been there. Thanks :

In my experience, my docs are deeply seated in the "better safe than sorry" camp when it comes to investigating these symptoms. I ended up having a few pelvic U/Ss and endo biopsies for different symptoms and all turned out fine. I also heard that polyps are a bit more common on tamox. Glad you're following up with your gyno. Good luck.
