Here is a study where they look at one year post surgery (Pain Common One Year After Breast Cancer Surgery.) We have heard this from others. Have you spoken with your treatment team?

Hi cramps! I have had what I call "zingers" in my cancer/radiated breast even now after more than two years, but I wouldn't consider it to be constant or severe. If you are having constant, severe pain, you should probably talk to your PCP or oncologist about that to see if there is a need to look further. But if you are having short bursts of zinging pain, that is normal. My breast surgeon told me that they don't fully understand how long it takes for the breast tissue to stop changing after surgery and radiation. I have had subtle changes in my breast shape, contour, etc. which also affects what I feel when I do BSE.

Last time I visited with the breast surgeon, she told me to make sure I wear a well fitting, supportive sport bra when I exercise because not doing so can cause pain in both the breast tissue and the underlying and surrounding muscles in the chest. (Especially if you are large busted) If you are someone who exercises, that could be what you are experiencing too.

But anytime you are concerned, good idea to have a trusted doctor take a look.

    Good luck, MsP
