Hi I just joined and wanted to know how you are doing?

I also have IDC. No family history and healthy. I found the lump while in the shower.

I have had a lumpectomy, chemotherapy, masectomy, herceptin and perjeta, and now radiation.

It's been a painful journey but I will continue to fight and trust God. I look at everything as a blessing now. Just feeling rain drops or a breeze on my face reminds me I'm alive and treatments are very good now.

    Next it's hormone therapy.

    Keep smiling and believing. ..

gremx: your doctor should explain the report in detail so you understand. If not, there are resources on this site that can help.

It is always so very scary when first diagnosed and you need help with that. It may help to reach out to a live person group and get some help. As for being there 2 years, well, it was smaller then it has to grow to be a certain size before imaging can pick it up. It sounds like it should be early stages and no matter what, there are treatments. It does seem overwhelming. Reading your bio, it sounds like they did surgery and it was stage 1, and low grade which is less likely to grow again. The meds should help work on the estrogen cells and keep you safe. I just hope you find a support system that will make you feel better. Call you doctor and ask if any groups are around

    Hi gremx and MB12:

Thank you for the updates. Been thinking about everyone.

    MB12:

If you may be having chemotherapy or radiation, please be sure to discuss any drugs or supplements with your Medical Oncologist and Radiologist. It is possible that some things may not be recommended during the treatment period due to possible concerns about interactions or potential of certain supplements to counteract the effect of treatment, by bolstering cancer cells when you are trying to kill them. Here is some general information (you need to copy and paste the link into your browser or search for the article).

"Avoiding Antioxidant-Drug Interactions During Cancer Treatment," by Dan Labriola, ND, and Robert B. Livingston, MD, ASCO Post, July 25, 2014, Volume 5, Issue 12

The article is just for background, so please be sure to seek current professional advice about anything you are now or are considering taking.

    Hi Butterfly123:

Welcome! You already have more experience than many of us with various treatments. It is nice to have the wisdom of actual experience here.

You may also be interested in joining this "triple positive group" thread with many ER+ PR+ HER2+ members:

    Hi JuniperCat:

Thank you for the link to the 2010 paper. There are some interesting caveats, such as self-reporting and limited information about dosages ("First, we did not have complete information on dosages for vitamin supplements," although the amounts were generally thought not to be mega-doses.)

Please note that the later published ASCO Post article (2014) that I linked to mentions that there are conflicting studies in this area.

The ASCO article seems to recommend individual consideration of each complementary therapy on its own merits and at the particular dosage proposed, which seems sound to me. There is also this recommendation: "It is recommended that patient supplement treatments be limited to those whose actions and interactions are understood; when there is doubt, one should err on the side of caution."

This seems to be an evolving area, so seeking current professional advice regarding the particular supplements one would like to use in light of the particular drugs and treatments one will receive is always the best course.

Hi guys, I thought I was going to write something here.

I am heal from my surgery. I am on Tamoxifen and dying of hot flashes and night sweats, every 5 minutes and can't sleep.

My daughter have now a brain tumour and we are going through surgery in 2 weeks...

Anyone of you have any experience with weird blood count ? My Platelets were at 600, went up to 621 and this week are at 646. My RDW is at 15.1 which is high as well as per the lab. Not that I know what I am talking about but when I read on the internet about it it all point to cancer so really concern.

    Thanks....

    Hi gremx003:

I am glad you are now healed from the surgery. I don't have any good information for you about hot flashes or night sweats from tamoxifen or your questions regarding blood work. Maybe someone else will come along who has some experience.

I am so very sorry to hear about your daughter's diagnosis and upcoming surgery, and will keep you both in my thoughts.
