I go from terror to feeling peaceful and am scared. My oncologist has said regular treatment is AC + T and has said that I qualify for a phase II trial (I am being seen at dana farber in Boston) with a 50% chance of receiving cisplatin or regular treatment taxol / how do I make this decision?

Bethdawn, I didn't have to face that decision, so I am afraid I don't have any advice. But I want you to know I am so sorry you are in this position. Whatever you decide, don't look back. You'll be deciding based on the best information in front of you at the time. That's all any of us can do. Take care!

Hi,

I have just recently been diagnosed. Through my own research, I have considered the idea of looking into a more holistic approach. I have been trying to look more into the root causes of my disease as nobody in my family history has ever had breast cancer. I came across something the other day about how your mouth can be connected to the rest of your body. For example a root canal on the tooth connected to the breast meridian can be a potential cause of breast cancer? Has anyone else ever heard of this?

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

You may consider looking for and meeting with a treatment team that does integrative medicine. Depending where you are located, perhaps a university hospital or larger cancer center.

We hope you can get the treatment that works best for you.

Very interesting. I have come across similar articles of research. I had a root canal a year before my diagnosis, so thank you for sharing as this is something that would be worth exploring.

Dear Bethdawn,

I'm so sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I, too, have read about the studies that others have referred to on this page. They were very credible and do show that your dental health affects cancer.

I read the Snopes site and don't agree. I hope you will reach out to the member who wrote about the people who have been helped, and, at least, explore other options for treatment.

just blocked another user. It's really sad that I have come here for support with my breast cancer diagnosis and I have to read posts from people who do not know the facts.

Here is my approach to those kinds of studies. What's in it for me? If I don't see a benefit to me and my possible outcomes, I don't do it. I don't take chances with my life to help someone with their study. My MO wanted to put me in some study about the benefits of radiation on 2-4 nodes. My BS said no way. You are getting radiation.
