My sister finally got some good news today! After being diagnosed incorrectly with HER2 breast cancer only to find out it was in reality trip negative breast cancer my sister had a PET scan which showed 2 spots in her lung. When she went in for the biopsy (she already had a double mastectomy ) the CAT scan showed nothing there. It was probably pneumonia. So this means she won't need radiation and can go back to her original plan of ACT chemo every 3 weeks instead of 2. I wish you all could know Sally she is awesome! The other 2 awesome women I grew up with have already beat estrogen and progesterone dependent cancers. 2 down 1 to go. My love to you all!

PET scans show areas of 'inflammation' or other reasons can cause and area to 'light up' - even non-cancerous areas. They need to be checked out to find out but not all areas that 'light up' on a PET are a problem. An area along my lower right jaw 'lit up' big time on my PET so had a biopsy of the area later that day - had the path. report the next morning - nothing there. That was 6 yrs ago and I'm still NED.

Thanks kick. I thought the PET scan showed areas of extensive glucose but what do I know. I am happy to see you are 6 years past your diagnosis. I appreciate this site so much and I wish you well.
