It will be 7 years ago in October that I had DCIS at age 39. My routine mamo is actually scheduled for today. I wonder if you guys could help me with some advice.

I'm still on tamoxifen. I came off after 5 years for about 5-6 months and I felt terrible. It's bizare that I feel better on it than off. My hormones began raging. My system just went crazy and I was miserable. So, I went back ON tamoxifen. During the first 4 years of tamoxifen my periods were like clockwork each month. The 5th year I still had them but would occasionally skip one. I was had routine vaginal ultrasounds to keep an eye on everything there along with the CA-125 blood test annually. I did develop a cyst that grew and wasn't budging so in Feb. 2015, they removed my left ovary and tube. Before the surgery, it was several months since a period and then the week of the surgery - I had a period. Now, since the surgery - no periods and a blood test confirmed I'm in menopause. Here are my questions...

1. No left ovary - less estrogen?

2. Should I consider stopping tamoxifen again?

3. If I stop tamoxifen, will my periods come back?

Getting ready to go through the time of year of all my appointments and just wonder what thoughts you guys may have?

Not sure the and to your questions (I think your oncologist would be the one to ask) but I totally understand about feeling better on Tamoxifen than off - before I started it my hormones were all over the place and I was miserable. Yes, I’ve had some annoying side effects but overall much better than before!
