Hey cbwitt1970...I'm headed to Knox today for girl time with my DIL and grand! 🎀🎀
Diagnosed 7/2 IDC, stage 1a, Grade 3😡, Onco DX 38😡😡. Surgery BMX 7/27, after receiving Onco results started TC chemotherapy 4xs! Halfway through chemo, working, living life, and always LOOKING UP☝️👌💪🙏😊! I'm 51, 4/5 paternal aunts had this in their mid sixties, but it was nicer, grade 1.
We are going to be okay my Knoxville friend!! Surgery is tough, chemo is bizarre type of ichy feelings/aches, and bald is doable with cute hats and shoes. Hehe.
Ask me anything...and GBO! Love and much prayer coming you way!

Hello my Knoxville friend! Thank you so much for your encouragement. I am scheduled for BMX ON Tuesday the 29th😳 I'm scared to death!
I'm so sorry about your Onco Dx score. Guess that's why you are taking chemo? I am so dreading that part but if it has to be then I will suck it up & do it! Thank God my hair is super short & grows fast!😉
I am 44. No children. And my mother had IDC. I have ILC. STAGE 1, grade 2.
Prayers to you also & please keep in touch & YES GO BIG ORANGE🍊

Cbwitt1970,
Met a lovely Sister Fighter at Turkey Creek shopping area today. Recognized her as a tribe member because of her baldness/hat while I was rockin my BoHo scarf. She is 45, stage 3, no kids, doing chemotherapy before surgery. I told her to get on this discussion board with us. She had interesting story, as we all do. Let's muscle up/pray up on this bunch of cancer crap ladies. This has been so humbling for me, moments of bad/dark thoughts, but we have a fight on our hands...so let's do it!👍🏽💪🙏

Hi fellow Knoxville ladies! I live in North Knoxville. I was DX on 8/27/15 (day after my 51st birthday!) with IDC. Have had a lumpectomy since then and am waiting (always waiting, it seems!) for first "real" consultation with MO and radiologist. So far, I have been told I am stage 1, grade 2 by surgeon's path report, and since tumor was almost 2 cm, I won't know about possible chemo until Oncotype DX is done by MO. Will have to have 33 rad treatments due to location of tumor. I am considering consulting with the proton therapy group here in Knoxville as a possibility instead of rads. It just seems that every step of this crazy experience is "hurry up and wait": wait for biopsy report, wait for surgery day, wait for path results, wait for MO appointment, etc. etc. Each day it seems to get a little bit better as treatments get in place and finally feel like something is being done.
Good luck (and prayers to all) of you! Go Vols!

Hello Knoxville ladies!! I am just now seeing your responses. I must not be getting my notifications for this topic. So sorry ladies!
I had bilateral mastectomy with sentinel node biopsy on left on 9/29/15. I also had 1st phase of reconstruction done. It was no picnic, I will just tell you. Hurt like hell!! I am now 8 days out & due to get my 1st fill this coming Monday. I just got the last of my 4 drains pulled today.
I also saw my oncologist today. He is sending my specimen off today for the Oncotype Dx test. He said it would take about 3 weeks to get results back. But he did say that unless there are any surprises, he thinks I will just have to do 10 years of Tamoxifen. No chemo & no Rads! My cancer is ILC, stage 1,grade2. 1.1 cm.I am so happy to meet you fellow TN ladies. This forum has been a godsend to me for education, venting, meeting women who are going thru this hellacious cancer diagnosis. We are going to beat this thing ladies!! -
owlwatcher,
Yes I had TE placed at the time of my BMX. I got the last of my drains pulled today & I am scheduled to get my first fill this coming Monday

I live in Chattanooga.....not to far from Knoxville. I had my double mastectomy at the end of Feb of this year (2017). I had chemo first ( last fall and into Jan.) because of spread to my lymph. I am now debating on taking the tamoxifen.....I am 43. Anyone here decide not to take it.....
