Hi all- Had surgery last week. Encouraging news ( other than an upgrade to stage 2), no complications.Healing well physically, but I suddenly feel sooo down. It feels like I have just been diagnosed all over again (- bad dreams, crying, that awful feeling in your stomach)

Hi Marie, That is to be expected. Its takes quite a while to heal emotionally as well as physically. My surgery was last March and I finally felt like I had a normal weekend. My view on life, feelings about my body, and my view on my future have changed. I've also had to make some lifestyle modifications, many for the better. You have been through a lot and it will take time to process it all. Be good to yourself as you heal physically and mentally. Hugs.

The docs try to prepare you for the physical part and they do that part (mostly) well. The emotional part for me has been tougher and like any trauma has hit me when I least expect it. ( after good news for example) My family keeps saying, "but you got good news, can't you just enjoy that?"

Trying to come to terms with the new normal-

    Best

You can be gratetful because you have a good prognosis, but there is nothing to enjoy about the experience. Family and friends haven't been there so really don't understand what you have been through. People on these threads do. Reach out anytime you need. A new normal can also be a very very good life, just a little different. You know so much more now than before.
