Can bone metastasis go to the foot?

Options

I was diagnosed with DCIS in March 2013 and in the last year or so have had major pain in my foot. I went to a podiatrist and was told it was plantar fasciitis. I got fitted for Orthotics but doesn't seem to be improved.

It's painful to even put any weight on it especially first thing in the morning. I'm walking with a limp with of the time.

Does anyone know if bone metastasis can go to the foot?

Thanks for any advice or suggestions.

Hi Ally - let me say "ouch!!" in sympathy for your foot pain. So sorry you're hurting so much. Your post caught my eye because I had a similar experience shortly after my dx. I remember waking up one day, stepping out of bed, and crumpling to the floor in pain. I had to stand for a minute or so to get my bearings, the pain was so bad. I stepped gingerly along for about an hour when I realized it was hurting less....until a few hours later when I stood up at work after sitting for a couple hours, and again I couldn't walk. In a panic I went to see my doctor the next day who diagnosed plantar fasciitis, just like you. I said it wasn't possible - I run, I do yoga, I'm fairly active. Long story short I really did have PF. The stretching in yoga was counteracting the shortening in my calves and feet from running. I slacked off my yoga during chemo because of neuropathy, and everything got tight and - viola! - PF. I did lots of stretching and increased my walking with my running, and one morning the pain was gone.

I've not yet read of mets to the bones in the feet - they usually end up in larger bones, and those closer to the center of the body (rarely hands/arms, for instance). If you continue to be worried, I'd certainly check it out with your doctor.

Good luck and I hope you feel better soon!

Hi there, I have similar foot pain caused by mortons neuritis. I believe its a fancy term for a trapped nerve in my foot. I had two inejections of steroid/cortisone in my foot. Pain went away and has never returned. The shots hurt but are well worth it. The podiatrist gave them to me . Perhaps you can try that?

Mets rarely travels below the knee.
