I wasn't even thinking yet about that always strange and conflicting month of October. It was a hot mid-summer afternoon last week, I was lined up for the drive-in window at my bank--you know, that is already such an annoying thing to attempt--those little metal cylinders are not designed with SUV's in mind, and half the time I have to lean out the window to grab the cylinder, or worse, open the driver's door to snag it, or more annoying, wipe out my side mirror trying to get close enough. Anyway, as the metal cylinder came whooshing down I startled that it was breast cancer pink instead of the usual sturdy grey. Only then did I notice the pink flags remarking that my bank was supporting bc--"We support BC"-- does this mean they are in favor of the disease? as in "We support Trump-- for President"?

I keep hoping someday they will give a Pinktober and nobody will come, but, no, instead, like Christmas and Halloween at Wal-Mart, dear lord, it is starting earlier each year.

I know I went to Joann ' fabrics the other day right in my face at the front door pink ribbon material. It is sickening who buys that crap. I don't want a pink ribbon "I am strong" blanket. The pink puke bucket is all I need.

I'm with you! I remember when I was diagnosed on a June and that October was such a shock! I was in a grocery store and everywhere I looked it was "breast cancer, breast cancer, breast cancer!!" I ran from that grocery store in tears... It was horrible and overwhelming.

October is the month in which I was married and it is very special to me. I refuse to let pinktober take anything away from me!! >_<

I agree not only was my surgery in October so is my birthday, so every October in my face is PINK, and it's also my birthstone. I actually like the colors of fall in October, orange, brown and green!

My first October after treatment--I went into a Caribou Coffee and pink balloons, pink ribbon cookies, pink cups, you name it were everywhere! I told them that it really offended me that they were celebrating like it was breast cancer's birthday party. It's just a way to make money for these places, sadly....

I am so with you girl. I HATE Pinktober. But I know it's with good intentions for the most people. It's just those big companies trying to make a buck off of their pink pencils, pink forks and knives, pink candles, pink ____________, (insert pink item here) are the ones that truly irk me.

Good to "see" you Weesa. Hope you're doing well.

    Love,

    Sharon
