I went back and was reading some of Patty’s journey, and just wanted to extend my “condolences” if you will to Chevy and Sas. It looks like y’all have been super close to patty since way back in 2014. She often posted how much she loved reading her big sis’s (chevys) daily posts, and I believe she referred to sas as “dr” due to all her knowledge. I actually felt like I got to know you two as well as her in those early days
Anyway, this just to say, I know her struggle right now must be really hard on you both, and I’m sorry.

this website really needs like/love buttons. This community is amazing & done more for me emotionally than any thing else in my life. The passion of Christ flower... I want to frame it. It feels somewhat voyeristic following Patty’s last days, but knowing how genuine we all feel towards her makes it ok. I can only hope people care as much as I feel I am starting my own decline & just don’t have a great amount of fight left in me. 😴 so much tired these days. Sue.

Sleep well, Patty. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Madelyn - thank you again.
-
Sue2009 - We do need love/like buttons here
I too, only came to 'know' Patty through this thread, but feel that there is a bond that we all share, and Patty knows this is compassion, prayers and positivity, not 'voyering'...I pray that you are going to feel better and not begin on the next leg of your journey yet, when you do, please reach out!!! gentle hugs, janice

Dear Vampeyes: just something you mentioned with cancer on the previous page:
"They have AIDS changed from a death sentence why can't they get it together with Cancer"
I know it is frustrating to fight cancer, or watch our love ones fight cancer. And it feels like if doctors/researches can treat AIDS why not cancer as well? Although AIDS is a spectrum of conditions caused by infection by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), those conditions are caused by one virus. Also, without treatment, the average survival time after infection is 11 years.(UNAIDS)
The difference, IMHO, is that cancer is not one disease, but many diseases. Each part of the body can get cancer and each cancer behaves differently to treatment. Some cancers (skin, kidney) are fairly easy to treat, while others are more complex, more aggressive, more deadly (pancreas, breast, lung).
Breast cancer is very complex. There are many forms of breast cancer: ductal, lobal, inflammatory breast cancer, Paget's disease, phyllodes tumor, and there are many other sub-types (more than 18 at last count), plus breast cancer can be hormone negative or positive for 3 hormones. Breast tissue is harder to reach, harder to get clean margins, and can metastasize before even being discovered.
I don't wish to minimize AIDS. I've lost classmates to AIDS. I've lost many, many people to cancer, and lots of them to breast cancer.

We all look forward to the day breast cancer does not take any lives. Love you all

At church yesterday we had a guest performer. She was a singer and a motivational speaker. She said that she had hope in Heaven and one day she would see her father again. I've never heard it put that way before but I liked it. So now I'm here with hope in Heaven and Patty to be at peace. May Angels be all around you to comfort you and your family.
