They are so fun. DS lives in town, so I sneak over and dog-nap them whenever I want (which is most afternoons for a walk.....good for them and good for me). We dog-sit when they are busy in the evening or on vacation. All the fun without any of the responsibility. Stella the Mini Schnauzer is very sweet. Taz the Chihuahua is named after the Tasmanian Devil; and it's name that fits his personality!

    Hello Patty,

So sorry that you're so tired. It make sense if you wbc is low, you're not getting enough oxygen to your body and brain, so you're tired.

Today I was substituting for 5th grade. In science, they were learning about the phases of the moon. In math, they were doing perimeter, area, and volume. In Language Arts, they were reading a novel about the Holocaust: The Boy in the Striped Pajamas.

It's always interesting to me to look at things from the students' perspective. For example, learning how the moon goes through its phases was very hard for some of the students. And yet, we adults just "know" it. I wonder what kinds of things will people just "know" in the future?

I certainly didn't mean for anyone to be offended by that poem that came with my bracelet which my daughter gave me. As with Vargadoll, I too am considered "lucky" because I was "only" Stage 1A and they consider me cancer-free. I do consider myself a warrior, along with everyone else, regardless of the stage or the diagnosis. But I also consider myself a survivor. I have survived to here and I plan on fighting to continue to be a survivor. Just my personal feeling.

Cancer is cancer and it sucks. I absolutely hate that anyone would turn away from you, Lita. Shame on them.

snickersmom. I don’t think anyone got offended at all.

Madelyn. 5th grade is fun age.

I had a good day. Mo said will be here at least a couple days. Waiting on counts to improve, which they are slowly. Wbc was .7 yesterday and .8 today

My hair is falling out in big clumps. Been there done that but it is still traumatic for me. I called an hair dresser who is also a survivor today. I used to go to church with her like 10 years ago but haven’t seen much of her since then. Wondering if there was a back room I could get my hair shaved without everyone seeing me. sHE offered to come to my house when I get out of hospital to do it. what a blessing !

Also my friend found these pastel bandanas at dollsr general for only $1. They are so soft.

Patty, I am just stopping in to say hello and to let you know that I am thinking of you. You sound so much better than you did just a month or two ago. That puts a smile on my face. I hope you are sprung from that hospital soon.

    Hugs and prayers from, Lynne

yay for going home!!!! LOVE the bandannas! Cool colors! I have a dollar general right down the road so i’m Going to check them out!

So happy your counts are coming up, albeit slowly.

I had to have neupogen shots too. They really really work! The only down fall, I think, was the bone pain from them was intense! I didn’t find this site until afterwards so I didn’t know there was another drug to take to help with the bone pain...which I can’t remember what it is now...maybe someone can chime in that knows??

I've also seen fun colored bandanas at Michael's Craft Store for about a buck each. They're in the section where you buy T-shirts and sweat shirts to paint.

I believe it is an antihistamine for the bone pain. Benadryl or ? If you look in the chemo threads you'll see it there. Allthe best

Ps I just checked and the recommendation is Claritin so I suspect antihistamines.

It's regular Claritin for the bone pain with Neulasta or Neupogen. NOT the "D". Not Xyrtec or Benedryl. I found it really worked. Take a day before you start. Continue for several days after you finish the shots.

Hooray for going home. Thinking of you.

    Good morning, Patty.

Yeah for home! I hope both the shots and the antihistamines work wonders for you.

Patty- just wanted to stop by and check in and see how you are doing. Sorry you have been in the hospital and loosing hair, but aren't those bandanas in their various spring colors. I hope your treatments are keeping the beast at bay. Not sure what will be happening for you this weekend on Mother's Day, but hope you can somehow see your boys even if you are still in house at that time.

    Sending you much love friend!

Lita- although those types of responses are certainly not unusual in my experience. I have heard everything from "no big deal, very treatable" to "are you going to die?" That being said, I would not have expected that at a breast cancer walk.

I saw this article a few years ago about bc being more than pink ribbons and include some of the fundraiser events like bc walks in this category. There are people who are simply just fearful of the word and just lack compassion. I try to get away from those people quickly now, no need to stick around and educate them or try to make them feel okay about any of it. Not my job.

I am sorry that made you feel so bad, really crappy thing for that person to do. Hugs sister, I too would proudly walk with you if I were there
