I am just curious - for those of you who had flap reconstruction, how much feeling (if any) do you have in your reconstructed breast?

None in the transplanted flaps. Also some numbness in the belly, and both axillae and the backs of my upper arms are numb too.

I sometimes joke that I'm numb from the neck down.

    Ladies

Does this mean that only the skin where you have the flap is numb and the surrounding skin you can feel or is the entire chest area numb?

    Thank you

On my delayed reconstruction side (mastectomy 2012, followed by radiation) the numbness extends about 1/2 way to my collar bone, but on the immediate (prophylactic mastectomy) side, only the transplanted skin and tissue seems numb.

I have bilateral "football shaped" flaps.

I have bilateral reconstruction -one side diep and the other sGAP. I know i am very lucky and regained basically normal feeling in about 1/2 to 3/4 of my breasts. I have some numbness in my diep donor site though it does not bother me.

Bilateral DIEP. No feeling on cancer side, where I had immediate mx. I thought there was no feeling on other side until I had my nipple tattoos done, and that side really hurt. However, the surface is numb to touch. Many areas of numbness on abdomen, hips and pubic area where liposuction was done.
