Breast cancer and acid reflux/GERD -- a connection?

Options

I know bc didn't cause my GERD, I've had it for decades. Unlike bc, ar/g does seem to run in my family. I think everybody on both sides has it. But since I found the lump seven weeks ago it has gone into overdrive. I feel nauseous and bloated all the time. My throat feels swollen and sore and I'm starting to have difficulty swallowing dry things like meat and bread. I'm scared I'm going to choke to death. Just nerves? I have been a wreck, especially since I found out I have to have a mastectomy, which is what I feared most. Or could the cancer have spread somewhere to cause this? It's not lung cancer. I had the pre-op x-ray yesterday. No lung cancer but they did discover bacterial pneumonia. Have been put on levaquin. Has anyone else had this problem? Any recommendations for relief?

Ebony Eyes, Stress can absolutely cause heartburn/GERD to worsen. It can also cause havoc with our digestive systems, nausea, bloating, diarrhea, constipation, etc. As far as the throat soreness and feeling of swelling, stress and anxiety can cause what's called "globus hystericus", the feeling of a lump in the throat, difficulty swallowing, tightness in throat, etc. I have had many bouts with it over the years arising from my anxiety. No fun, but it helps to know what it is and that it's nothing medically serious.
