Pain and swelling after radiation?

Options

I was diagnosed with dcis in February 2015.  I had a lumpectomy in March 2015 and went through six weeks of radiation afterwards which ended on May 2015, and was told that the radiation would stay in my system for about six weeks.

Everything started feeling better and I was actually feeling good for a while.  I noticed I had swelling in my armpit and felt that when I stretched that arm up in the air, it felt tight and sore in the armpit.  Also I am experiencing pain in my breast again. It's not an all-the-time pain but it can be anywhere from a 1 to 10. I called the doctor and she said she didn't feel anything so she didn't feel it was any more cancer.  She told me to take Vitamin E and Trental thinking it may be the nerve-endings that are coming "back to life".  I've only been on the medication for a week but am not seeing any relief.

Has anyone else experienced this and what were you told it was?  I would appreciate any information. Thank you.

I don't know if I can help as I'm only 3 weeks out from rads but my docs have said the breast will continue to change and heal for months, even years after treatment.

    Sorry you are having this

I also think it's probably nerve endings healing. I did want to note, radiation is not on your system for 6 weeks after. There is never radiation in your system or we would all be radioactive. Which we are not. The after effects and damaged cells from radiation may be in your system for 6 weeks.
