Getting scans

Options

I am a patient at MDA, Stage 3-A ; diagnosed Jan 14, ILC- finished rads in March- they will not scan me to see if my treatment worked. Quotes ABSCO that it statistically does not improve survivorship... I read on this all the time that many of you regularly get scans at your six month or yearly check ups. I have not had aCAT scan since my diagnosis, never had a PET scan at all

I have periodic MRIs based initially on radiologist findings but now annually due to a genetic concern. No PET to date. Both of those scans are expensive to do but perhaps your insurance would allow an ultrasound at some point, for peace of mind since lobular cancer can be so difficult to detect even using digital mammography.

My next imaging will be done by tomosynthesis which employs 3D technology. MD Anderson should have that option for you. Perhaps a local clinic could do your follow-up, eliminating the need to travel?
