Safe and effective underarm deodorant
I looked at all the forums and couldn't figure out where to put this. What brand, unscented, do you recommend post bmx where nodes were taken? Baby wiping it isn't cutting it at all. Thanks!

I like Tom's. Works good, smells good, it is all natural, Our grocery store sells it in the natural products section, Walmart sells it in the deodorant section.
-
Tom's is good, as is Crystal Stick, which is a stick that you wet under the faucet and then apply. I've been happy with it!
-
Thanks! I just got Toms of Main original which has a very light citrusy scent. My underarms as some areas on me are still very numb so I'm not shaving under my arms yet. I use a razor when I do and it'd be too weird to shave and not feel anything much.
-
I don't know if the information in this recent article is entirely true, but it did sway me from buying Tom's toothpaste recently, in favor of Kiss My Face.

As far as deodorants, I like For Pits Sake. You can find it on-line. I've also read about but haven't yet tried Soapwalla deodorant, which is also very highly rated and available on-line. Deanna

One side effect after having axillary node surgery and radiation on my left side is that armpit no longer seems to sweat or smell! There's only part of it that even grows hairs!
I had bilateral reconstruction in January and am now numb under both arms, which doesn't seem to be improving. I shave very carefully with a blade, or use my electric razer ... but the blade works better. Just have to watch what I'm doing and get the area as flat as possible, being numb .....
-
Thanks Deanna! I just ordered For Pits Sake. I found only 2 reviews online but 1 raved about it being strong for a man's odor which is similar to me unfortunately.
-
So I got the For Pits Sake. It has a coconut oil scent. I put it on and not only it didn't take care of my bad case of bo but it mixed with it to create worse smell than my bo. So I tossed it and rolled the dice with Jungleman. Got it yesterday and THIS IS IT! Absolutely no scent, not even faint. I applied this over my pits which were stinky to where others could could smell too if I went out, and instantly it's gone! I mean GONE! It smells like nothing. Not long after I bathe I start to smell again in my pits. I'm Iranian so it's probably a cultural issue too as the women in my fam, you can tell if someone skipped the am swipes.
So I HIGHLY recommend this all natural product. I got mine from Amazon. I'm going to stock up just in case it sells out. I got the unscented as there are other scents. I don't want to smell like anything! SO HAPPY!!

Artista, I'm glad you mentioned Jungleman. You can give me the lowdown. I bought it a few months ago and to be perfectly honest, it was unuseable. I didn't use it myself, but my son was complaining it was like trying to apply a mix of hard candle wax and sandpaper. After a week, his pits got all dark and weird. Now I'm thinking maybe it was just a bad stick. Is yours super hard? Like so hard, you'd have to microwave it to get anything on you? Any skin issues? (maybe a question I should ask in a couple weeks, but I'm curious). If you haven't had any problems, I think I might give it another shot. I love the ingredient list.
-
Artista, sorry the one I suggested didn't work for you. I've used it for probably 3 years, and other than not gliding as smoothly as toxic brands, I like it. I guess deodorants are an individual thing. Or maybe you got a bad one? Either way, thanks for the Jungleman recommendation. I'm going to look into it.

I use Toms but honestly do not seem to sweat as much as I used to, maybe us German's just are that way, also have love the hair on my legs and underarms~~
-
Leggo- I'm on day 2 and so far so good. It is harder than any deod I've used, so he's correct there. This thing came in a box with a little ice pack and a sticker on it saying keep in cool area. I'm guessing your son has hair under his arms so I can see this as being a pain and perhaps not as effectively applied and to therefore work effectively? My pits are smooth now that I've started shaving again. I just sniffed after 6 hours since application and it's still working good but I can tell I may need to re-apply soon. Also, it doesn't go on smooth like Toms but because for me the bo I have in my pits is like a man's I can deal with it and just use my fingers to smooth it out if need be. You need to put a decent amount and it is white, not clear. So while it has faults, for me it's nothing as I kid you not, I have pit bo like a working man even when I don't move much. It sucks! So that's where my great excitement came from.
So it's not perfect but so much better than the other naturals I had tried. I'll keep you posted here on how it goes but I can see that unless I have a bad skin reaction later on which if you are to have one, it usually comes right off the bat, I'll keep it as holy grail product even if I have to reapply it again. It is warm still so I can understand that with an all natural product. I'm trying to find the equivalent to Dove sensitive skin in all natural form. This is the best reg deod ever! And it goes on clear. I never had bo or had to reapply it with it and am so bummed that I can't use it anymore. So for anyone who isn't concerned about all natural, Dove sensitive skin passes the big stink test on me and has for years.
dlb823- No worries. Not everything works on everyone. I don't think there is a perfect all natural deod unless you don't have a big bo issue to deal with. But for me who is really like a man or worse, it's a painstaking task and $s spent to find THE one and even it isn't without some cons.
I'll keep you all posted on how this goes.
-
Thanks Artista. Very helpful. May just have to give it another shot.
-
you guys, it's hard to believe, but using plain Milk of Magnesia works!! When nothing worked after my first surgery another poster here recommended it. Amazing. It even works on my stinky teen 24+ hours. A thin layer of MoM is all you need. The People's Pharmacy sells it as a deo under their own brand but I have yet to try it. My terrible BO subsided maybe 6+ months later. Now I just use the liquid Kiss My Face.
-
Can you believe I forgot to put deodorant on this am when I got up and just sniffed and the Jungleman is still working??? I did a re-apply late afternoon yesterday as a little was coming through though not bad. Wow. It's not warm today so maybe I won't have to re-apply! Loving this stuff!
-
Still loving it! Wish it went on smooth and clear but these cons are nothing compared to the effectiveness. Just went through a heatwave again here in CA and it held up like a champ!
-
i have a lot of skin issues with deodorants. I break out and my skin opens and is weeping with almost everyone. Toms is one of the ones I can wear. Weird. LOL. There's another one they sell at the medical rehabilitation device store. They keep it with the mastectomy stuff. I'll look up the name later and post. But those are the only 2 in a long Ine of trials. Oh. The crystal one is a antiperspirant. It won't stop odor, just is a hunk of alum ( most probably). It stops sweating kinda like styptic pencil stops bleeding
-
I had tried the crystal one years ago in the pink packaging and it was junk. Didn't do a thing and I could never tell if anything ever really went on. I can stink like a man so it is hard to find something that consistently works well for me, let alone all natural. Dove sensitive skin is the perfect one with no cons but sticking to all natural when it comes to things you rub on your skin.
-
I started using Toms at the beginning of the year. I live in the South, I'm pretty active and tend to sweat a lot but wanted to get away from anti-perspirant. I have two sticks of Toms and I tend to carry one around with me when I know I might exercise or be outside or get hot at work. I reapply once a day if needed.
-
I struggled to find a natural deodorant that worked. Like Morweena mentioned, it seems that all the stink and sweat only comes out on one side now lol. I was in Austin last year and my friend dragged me to this place called W3LL PEOPLE. They have a bio makeup line which is fabulous but carry other products too. The makeup artist pointed me towards Natural Betsy's "Be Fresh" and I've stopped trying anything else. Interesting note that the makeup artist said she used to work at a large makeup store (won't say the name) with her friend and the friend was diagnosed with breast cancer. Apparently her tumour was full of some ingredient that is used abundantly in those cosmetics. After that, they both left for W3LL PEOPLE because they felt they couldn't in good conscience continue to put those products on people.

Ok ladies, I'm loving PiperWai. If you watch Shark Tank, a couple of ladies pitched the sharks this all natural under arm deodorant that is charcoal based last month. I ordered it and have been using it for a couple weeks now. Awesome stuff! It goes on clear and has a mild herbal scent which isn't unpleasant. I tend to sweat during chemo and this takes care of any odor. Highly recommend this.
-
99 percent rubbing alcohol will kill odour causing bacteria so you can put it in a little spray bottle and never need deodorant again. Has to be 99 percent tho.

When I started RADS, one of the techs recommended Arm & Hammer deodorant. I can only find it at Wal-Mart for around $2. I have been using it for two weeks. I'm a runner and sweat/stink and this stuff works well for me. I haven't had to reapply. It has a citrusy smell.
-
Anyone ever tried this?

sorry artista just saw your post above.
