Medicaid: what am I covered for?

I need some clarification and can't get anyone at Medicaid on the phone. Our state has a program called "Every Woman's Life" which is run through Medicaid. It pays for breast/reproductive system treatment. I was approved. The letter said "full Medicaid coverage". I was told this means Medicaid will pay ALL my medical coverage(I have lots of problems besides bc). But at the bottom of the letter it said, "Approved for breast and cervical Medicaid". Sounds like this coverage is actually limited. Anyone know? As I said, no one over there answers phones or returns messages.

It depends on the state you live in. Every state is different -- here in Michigan, you would have medical care for everything.

Have you found an oncologist yet? Perhaps their office could tell you what your coverage is.

Glad that you are getting access to this federal government program that cares for all American women!

Wow, how frustrating! I was going to make the same suggestion--to see if the doctor's office can help.

If you don't have a doctor, maybe you can call one who participates in the program. I googled "Each Women's Life" and came upon this page. There's a link to providers.

Most cancer docs have a social worker who can sometimes help point you in the right direction to get answers. Another idea: maybe call a local cancer support center and ask if they know how you can get clarification. (they might not know offhand but may be able to find out). Sorry you're going through this, on top of everything else.

Never did get anyone from Medicaid but a lady at the health department said I am covered for everything except dental. She also referred me to an oncologist. Seeing her this Friday.

    Thanks for your hep.

Glad to hear the good news about your coverage and that you're seeing a oncologist this Friday. Good, moving forward. Hopefully the insurance will go smoother going forward. I'll send good vibes. ;)
