Still draining?? Sclerotherapy?

This week will be 7 weeks since my lumpectomy with latissimus dorsi reconstruction. I had two drains initially. One, to my breast came out in 10 days. This second one is giving me problems. It was draining down to 60-70 three weeks ago then I got a fever one night, just one night, and drainage went up to 150 then was coming back down again to about 80. I'm dealing with the PS on this. He prescribed antibiotics but then told me to hold off taking them because my fever went away. PS decided to send me to interventional radiology where they would do an ultrasound and seeif and where there maybe a cavity that isn't healing up. They would then preform sclerotherapy. This is where they inject an alcohol fluid and this is suppose to irritate the tissues and encourage them to heal up, make them sticky, they said. They then would replace the drain. Well the night before the procedure, they had me clamp my drain so the suspected cavity would be easy to see with the ultrasound.

Well let me tell you, I got so sick from clamping that drain! By 10am the next morning I was ready to die. I was freezing cold, shaking like a leaf and nauseous as hell. Messed up part was no fever. They gave me demerol which I found out I was alergic to, Benadryl and something else to ease my torture.

So they took me to an OR. They flooded my back with the alcohol solution and replaced the drain. I went home and felt like I was hit by a bus for a day and a half. So first day back, drainage was 105 and had been going down about 10ml a day for three days. PS still thinks this is too much do he is going to schedule me for another sclerotherapy session. The docs that did it said it may take more than one time.

So has anyone else had an experience like this? Initially my PS said I'm one of his jucier patients. Yay. But this is getting ridiculous.

I want this drain gone!!! I'm feeling like a freak. I want to get radiation started (can't believe I'd say that!) to get it over with but this is holding it up a bit.
