Post BMX Pain increased with Menstrual Cycle?

I have searched quite a bit and haven't found any discussion on this. Maybe I've missed something and you can point me in the right direction. I'm 1.5 weeks post BMX and have been recovering well. For the past 5 days I've barely taken pain meds - until today! I'm miserable. The pain isn't intense (I'm not afraid of infection) it's just a lot more uncomfortable. This increase in discomfort corresponds to my cycle starting yesterday and cramping today! Anyone had this? Does your "chest" still respond to monthly cycles?

I can tell you that I've had stronger, more painful periods in general since my double especially once I started Tamoxifen and again after I had to have a copper IUD put in. I can imagine for you being newly out of surgery that your body is reacting to overall discomfort. You'll be amazed how many things are interconnected while recovering.

    Hope this helps a little.

I actually spoke to BS today and he said there's absolutely no reason for any hormonal or pain sensations based on my cycle. However, he did say I've been through ALOT the past 3 months and that can mess with everything so it's not surprising I felt worse at its onset.

I had a single mastectomy last July and I am already past menopause. I have an implant on the reconstructed side and I sometimes, feel the same feelings as I did when I would be ready for my period. I have heard of people with a limb amputated feeling like their foot itch or something when they didn't even have it, so I figured must be the same type thing. Its very weird.

ringelle, here's a link to a recent thread on this topic.

Despite my breasts being gone, i experienced menstrual pain in my chest/absent breast area. My BS felt it was "phantom pains".

Mine got better. I think my periods stopping since starting tamoxifen has really helped.
