Liver mets?

Options

Hi ladies, just wondering if I may ask those that have liver mets if you had any symptoms before you found out? I've had elevated liver enzymes for 5 mo (steadily climbing) and noticed petechiae on my front calves. Blood test ruled out all Hepatitis and Viral infections. I just had an abdominal ultrasound on Tuesday but of course I'm waiting for the results.

I had an intern doing my ultrasound and she said that the ultrasound tech was monitoring the screen as well from her desk and would likely come in and finish/taking over if she took too long or wanted more pics. She said the process would take about 30-45 min. The ultrasound tech did come in and spent about 15 more min taking more pics so it was actually closer to an hour. I was able to glance at the screen (it all looks like gray/black blobs to me) they were all numbered but I saw that one of the scans the number was a different color than the rest of the scans. I wanted to ask if that was being "flagged" or concern but didn't have the nerve to ask. They said it would take about 24 hours for the radiologist to review and send the results to my PCP.

The waiting game sucks! Thanks in advance!

Thanks Bevin I just got a call back from my dr office. I have fatty liver, I'm not overweight nor do I drink a lot of alcohol. My dr spoke with my oncologist and they are going to retest my blood in a few weeks if my liver enzymes are still elevated they may take me off some of my meds and do the monitor/wait and see.

I am so glad. Fatty liver is common but very important to get under control. I just read a great article by Dr Makr Harmon on how to clear a fatty liver naturally. Low sugar diet , whole foods and calorie control. you can be fit and not overweight and still get fatty liver from too much sugar. It was a really interesting book.

Interesting, I'll have to read that. I actually cut out my biggest bad habit in June (diet coke) I really don't have a sweet tooth and only sugars I eat come from fruits. I actually exercise regularly (4-6) days a week but of course I can always improve on how I eat. Thanks!

Tamoxifen can contribute to fatty liver. Perhaps you could ask about switching. If you do a general search for Tamoxifen and fatty liver, you'll find a lot of articles.

    • KBee, I read that too but when I was on tamoxifen my liver enzymes were fine. It wasn't until after I switched to Toremifene/fareston that I started having these issues. I may just ask to stop HT all together.

So I just read my ultrasound report and don't see my Onco until Tues. My SO keeps telling me I'm worrying about nothing, but then he was certain I didn't have BC either. Here's the report, can anyone clarify it for me?

Liver is diffusely echogenic. There is a focal hypoechoic lesion within the right hepatic lobe near the dome of the diaphragm. It measures 0.8 x 0.7 x 0.9 cm. It demonstrates no definite internal vascularity. It does not definitively demonstrate anechoic internal characteristics. The lesion is indeterminate. No other focal hepatic lesions are identified. The common bile duct measures 6 mm, which is mildly prominent for age. Everything else, portal vein, gallbladder, kidney, spleen, pancreas, noncriminal aorta is normal.

Is this just fatty liver or could it be liver mets from my BC? My doc said she spoke to my Onco dr he and they seem to be taking a "watch and see" approach. Should I push to get an MRI (I've never had an MRI or CT scan)?
