I just had a body perm and it doesnt seem as curly as others I have had in the past.Just wondering if it is due to medication.

Anyone have any experience with this?

I think it's possible. I don't get perms any more, but I've noticed that my hair is slight thicker post-tamox. (I had super fine hair, now it's more like normal). I asked my hair dresser and she said she's seen hair changes in clients going through hormone changes (girls reaching puberty, women going through menopause or pregnancy). I googled and it turns out we have estrogen receptors on our hair follicles. Who knew? (um, maybe all the bald guys...) But...having had perms as a kid, I remember that sometimes they turned out better than other times so....who knows?

I was a Master Cosmetologist for years and yes medications do have an effect on perms and color. For perms, it may take different rod size and/or process time to achieve the wanted 'curl'. Neutralizing time can also need to be increased. Meds can also 'play with' the outcome with color.
