re occuring cellulitis
I have been battling cellulitis off and on for 3 years now. Initially it was once every 6 months but since the beginning of this year it keeps coming back. It started the day after my daughter's wedding in Feb. Then in March I got it again. It stayed away for a few weeks and then came back in July and now it just won't go away. I was on Keflex for 14 days. Finished it and it came back on day 2. Cleared again but came back 8 days into the 14 day prescription. Continued on It for 14 days after the recurrence and once again it came back after 6 days. Now I am on Clyndamyacin and am on day 6 of the 14 days and today I wore my sleeve at work knowing that It was going to be a very active day and when I took the sleeve off ....there it is again, raring it's ugly head.
To say I am over it would be an under statement. My doc has referred me to an Infectious Disease Doc and can't see him until the 10th of September...ugh.
Anyone have any suggestions of keeping this monster down and gone forever? I have heard lemon essential oil and coconut oil. I have worn a glove while at work too to keep germs away. I am a hand washer and a clean freak too....So frustrating. Any advice will be well accepted

wow, that stinks. Any chance you can get your doctor to call the infectious disease office,, and say it's an emergency, please work her in faster?? Worth a try. They will pull strings for other doctors, while us peons have to wait. It sounds like you need a culture,, different antibiotics, cuz these are just not killing your bugs. -
Not sure if you should be wearing the garments. Seems I read here you shouldn't, pushes the infected lymph around.
Binnyor Carol should be along soon, they will know.

I've heard not to wear compression garments during an active infection, especially cellulitis. I hope you get this issue resolved soon! HUGS!!

Aw, Mags, I'm so sorry to hear this! I'm with Glennie on this: get one of your doctors to pull some strings and get you in sooner. Fuss and fury until they listen to you--make like a squeaky gate. Not something to fool around with any longer.
One of the gals here (Jo-5, I think) has had issues with handling meat and always wears gloves when prepping and cooking--worth a try if you're not already doing that. But I really think this is a problem that needs to be dealt with medically, by a specialist. Sooner, rather than later.
Please do keep us posted! Gentle hugs,

Have a read of this document on the treatment of recurrent cellulitis for patients with lymphoedema.
It's from the British lymphology society (it was developed by one of the top LE experts in the country) might be worth discussing with your GP and consider low dose long term antibiotics. http://www.thebls.com/docs/Cellulitis_Consensus_20...

thank you ladies for your responses. Right now it is ok...no signs of redness at all.
That was a good read thanks Olivia 82. Never expected this that is for sure.
