I am having the 3 week hypo fractionated "Candaian" method. They give a larger dose for a shorter period of time. I just started and had treatment thursday and Friday. About 3 hours after my 1st treatment I started to feel queasy and nauseous and have no appetite. I wrote it off as nerves. I had my treatment Friday and have been queasy, nauseous and have diarrhea since then.

I know this seems very early in treatment to have side effects but everyone else in the house is healthy, no stomach flu going around and I've hardly eaten anything so I don't think it's food poisoning. I have a very sensitive stomach and GI track. I also have irritable bowel syndrome.

I thought that these things weren't supposed to happen during radiation to the breast. I'm still holding out hope this is just a coincidence but it would be odd that it just started when I started tx

I will tell my techs Monday when I go in. Has anyone else dealt with this? Will the dr be able to help me out with this? I can't imaging living the never 4 weeks like this. Ugh.

    Hi,

I see in your signature line that your DCIS was on the right side. I had radiation on the right side too. About the tenth treatment I started getting nausea. The rad dr said it was an unusual side effect probably caused by the radiation beam hitting just a tiny slice of the top of the liver. Only happens if right side is treated. It only lasted 2 weeks. Here's hoping yours is also temporary.

that makes sense, they drew with black marker in me the area that was being irradiated so I'd know where to put lotion and it larger than my breast and does extend down a bit towards my liver.

Were they able to give you something for the nausea? I'm going to ask for something Monday.
