Lumpectomy yesterday for DCIS

My treatment ended up being a lumpectomy, which I had yesterday for DCIS. I am grade 3. It went well, just a little sore neck and throat and abs, but no significant soreness in breast.

I went in at 8 am and home by 2:30. I am managing pain with ice packs and tylenol only. I declined narcotics due to not tolerating them at all and tylenol and ice are working great!!!

I will get final pathology report in a week on Monday. I am praying it is not going to change from what we think it is from the biopsy.

I will be going in for radiation in 6-8 weeks. Not looking forward to that....radiation freaks me out!

That's my DCIS update!

:)

getting through surgery was big for me, it meant they cut all that nasty stuff out! I had a similar experience. I was never offered narcotics, he said I wouldn't need them and I didn't. I had almost no pain. My throat hurt worse than my breast. I found the wait for pathology very long. I was do worried, but I ended up with just DCIS. I started rads this week. It's not too bad. The first day was long but the second was much faster. I completely lost my appetite though after my first session. I don't know if it's stress or from the radiation. I am on the 3 week regiment so I am getting higher doses per session. I feel kind of like how I do when I get too much sun

I'm glad you are doing well, CAmommy! My rads don't begin for another 6-8 weeks. I really wish I could skip them! Ugh.

I hope your appetite comes back! Make sure to tell your RO how you are feeling.
