How to find a new doctor for second reconstruction/repair
Another question for a friend who is having some hard times
Bottom line is that her original reconstruction after double mastectomy doesn't seem to have been done correctly, has developed complications or a bit of both. She has lost confidence in her original plastic surgeon and is having trouble finding a new one.
I've been trying to help her find a new doctor online and I see the challenge. Finding plastic surgeon with years of experience, who does breast reconstruction, is within a reasonable distance AND takes insurance is proving to be like trying to find a needle in a haystack. We've tried lots of Google searches and even found a site that does a great job of posting rankings and reviews but still not having any luck. The choice is an important one because, as I'm sure everyone here can understand, she's really tired of all of this and wants be done with all of the surgeries.
So my question this time is; can anyone share some advice or resources for finding the closest thing she can find to a perfect doctor who can do the job right so she can get on with her life?
Thanks in advance for any help

Can her Breast Surgeon make any recommendations?
-
He has partnered up with the original surgeon
-
What type of complications did she have?
-
I think whippetmom keeps a list of surgeons. If you private message her with your location she may be able to provide a name.

Just private message whippetmom. She gave me a list of PS because I needed a second opinion on my reconstruction. I really like my new PS!

I love my ps in Louisville, KY. Dr Brad Wilhelmi. He is Chief of Plastics with University of Louisville. He takes complex cases and gives his cell number upon first consultation with you. I had a friend who had radiation complications and was told by her ps nothing else could be done and to live with it. I sent her to him, she had revision surgery lady week and is very happy with her results even at this early stage. He is compassionate, and listens to his pts. Highly skilled...the whole package.
