Waiting for doctor call back is maddening!
My core needle and stereo biopsies were last Wednesday. Results were supposed to be ready in 5-7 days, so I called the BS office yesterday and asked for info. The receptionist said yes they are in - and she would put a note in to the nurse for the doc to call me. I know for a fact the doctor is out this week, but the receptionist said he's still in touch with the office.
Almost 24 hrs later - still no call. This is driving me insane!! This office has yet to call me about anything without me calling once or twice myself. Is this common??? Ugh.

Oh my gosh I'd be spitting mad and I'm certainly sorry you are going through the torture of waiting. Personally I'd call back and very firmly let them know that having those test results sitting on a desk is absolutely wrecking your anxiety level. Then show up at noon and sit in their office and stare at them until someone comes to talk to you
. Good luck!!!

ha! Thanks Trichick! I did call again and this time I got "oh he's on vacation but will be back Monday". I don't need to SEE him, I just want my results!! She said he's coming in on Friday to review reports and will make calls over the weekend. I asked if anyone else could give me results and she's going to "leave a note" with the charge nurse
I will absolutely not be dealing with this office in the future.

Mary, This is simply outrageous. I've had two core needle biopsies and I have gotten the results in a day at a large breast center. If the dr. isn't there, then they should have made arrangements for coverage. Good luck. I will be thinking about you. Please let us know. Mary (also my name!)

Going on 2 weeks now...still NOTHING. I've called 4 times now. Each time I'm told something different (he is on vacation but still in touch...he is on vacation and will be back Monday....he's back now and it's on his desk....blah blah blah). NOTHING. I just left a message with my PCP to hopefully see if he can call for me and get things moving. This is just unacceptable. From reading some posts, it sadly seems somewhat common in the healthcare system. I'm pretty positive all is benign because my biopsy nurse was nice enough to give me a "hint", but she couldn't technically tell me anything. But still. Unbelievable!!!

FINALLY an answer = BENIGN. Took my PCP's office calling them to finally call me back. I asked why no one could have called me last week to just say "it's benign". They didn't even schedule followup or anything. It was a 1 min phone call. The answer is still that the dr was on vacation.
So - if you can't get anything from the BS office, call your primary and have them try. Worked for me!
