After FNA biopsy, doctor said, "it came back completely benign, but I don't believe a word of it". So i had a stereotactic core biopsy and awaiting results. Does this mean she missed the spot? i don't feel that there was a lot of explanation and i didn't get any results to take home. is that because she didn't want me to be worried while waiting? i don't know what the BIRAD # is, I thought it might be 4, but she did mention it was spiculated, so maybe 5? any thoughts on what to expect?

Hi fishermom. Sorry for the worry that brings you here... but glad you've found us!

Did you get a mammography done? "Spiculated" is a term used to describe the edges of the mass found, and it means that these are irregular. If she said that, then it looks like she sees an abnormality, and wants to go further with tests.

Call her if you can, and don't be afraid to speak up. It's important for you to let your doctor know if you don't understand something.

Good luck with results! Please come back and let us know!

I had a mammogram, then 3d,then ultrasound. Then she did the fine needle biopsy with ultrasound and core biopsy with mammogram. I'm getting the results on the core biopsy on Friday. When I asked questions she only kept saying, "I just need to see the result, I need to see it". Even when I asked "what are you looking for?" or what the outcomes could be, she would just repeat about needing to see the tissue. It's hard to think of the questions I have when I'm in the office, is there a thread that has suggestions of questions to ask when you get biopsy results? I know it is probably a higher chance of malignancy with it being spiculated, but I also know if some of the benign conditions that can look spiculated. Either way I want to be ready with some questions. Thanks!
