Hi All! I didn't see a board for laparascopic surgeries. If you've had a salpingo-oophorectomy (to remove ovaries and fallopian tubes) or a hysterectomy, please feel free to share your experiences here!

I'll start. I had my bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy last week. The surgery took about an hour. I went home right afterward with 4 tiny little incisions covered in tegaderm (clear dressing). One just at the bikini line, one near the belly button, and one on each side. No drains. I needed pain meds the first two days after surgery but none since then. I had difficulty standing up straight/moving in bed due to a feeling of pulling along the abdomen at first and also a feeling of cramping somewhat like menstrual cramps. I was able to walk around the house short distances and that made me feel better. My bowels were slow to wake up after surgery so I ate jello/clear liquids for the first couple of days. Now things seem back to normal. I haven't had my first post-op visit yet so I'm not allowed to work, lift anything more than a gallon of milk, or drive yet. Overall, I felt that this surgery was way easier than my lumpectomy and axillary node dissection mostly because there were no drains involved!!

I had my BSO August 2014. It was pretty simple. Just be careful not to do too much too soon. Make sure to take Colace, prune juice what ever works if you are taking pain medication. You want to avoid constipation. That was my only battle.

My experience was similar. Surgery was less than 45 minutes, 3 tiny incisions, bloody vaginal discharge (take pads to the hospital, the ones they give you are huge). I only took ibuprofen after surgery for 2 days, felt back to normal after one week but had to be careful. No sex for a month.
