scars, keloids, etc

I'm not even sure where to put this question but figured here would work. I had my port removed about 5 months ago. It healed well and the scar had faded and flattened. But then a couple of weeks ago a bump started growing along the scar line and has continued to grow. It's not huge but it's big enough and noticeable enough that I'm concerned that if it continues getting bigger my scar will look really ugly in not too long. My scar shows with pretty much everything I wear because of where it is on my chest. I googled (of course...) and found info on keloids. I've never developed them with scars before, my mastectomy scars are flat and really light now. I happen to have a dermatologist appointment this week so I'm planning on showing it to her. But I was wondering if anyone else has experience with this?

Hi Kendra:

You might try the forum "Chemotherapy: Before, During and After" and include the word "Port: Keloids?" as your title.

In the photos (accessed via menu at left) at www.breastfree.org, some of the photos show port scars, just for comparison purposes.

I am glad you'll be seeing the dermatologist this week.

Thanks Barredowl, I might try reposting in chemotherapy. It's not a huge deal, just one of those things that's nice to know if others have dealt with something similar! I'll look at the link you included, that may be helpful!
