Tissue expanders hurt during sex

I had a bilateral mastectomy with tissue expanders in June- about 8 weeks ago. The breasts/expanders really hurt during missionary sex. Now I'm worried about getting implants when they remove the tissue expanders. Are permanent implants hard and uncomfortable during sex? I'm truly grateful my husband does a lot of push ups, but I miss the close embrace. Will this just get better with time? Or is this even how silcone/saline implants are and I should be looking into other permanent options?

When I had my expanders in, I had a really hard time sleeping because they were so hard. I ended up sleeping on top of a cushion--on the side, so that the expanders could sort of lop over the edge--if you can picture that. Hugging people felt hard and awkward. Now that I have implants in, I can sleep on my side or even my stomach. I can hug people with no problem. I found the difference between expanders and implants to be enormous. For a good month or so after exchange I felt all soft and snuggled--from the inside, if that makes any sense.

So I wouldn't worry about it! We all have different experiences, but I think most of us found the implants much softer and more comfortable! Hang in there and best wishes to you!!

Thank you so much for the reply. I also called and talked to my breast surgeons nurse. She assured me that the implants are much softer and not painful. Also, the pain has decreased by about half, so I'm thinking i just had more healing to do.
