    Greetings everyone,

It has been a while since I have been here and I am glad to say that my friend has done very well with her chemo treatments. She is now entering into the radiation part of the treatment which she gets five days a week until March of 2016. She has experienced some skin sensitivity and some hair loss wiith the chemo but now some of the hair has grown back but its thin and less density. What effect does the radiation have on the hair? And will the hair grow back? How long does the radiation/chemo stay in the body before it is totally out of the system? Any advice for this second part of the treatment?

    Thank you

Hair doesn't fall out with radiation. It differs from person to person how long hair regrowth takes. I've read that chemo takes months to get out of your system. So far radiation had been a breeze for me, I'm in my second week. The only thing I can say is it knocks the crap out of me, I'm severely fatigued afterward. And my skin feels warm to the touch where they radiate me. Hope that helps!

The hair in the irradiated area can fall out (underarm, for example). Your friend should keep drinking a lot of water and eating protein--these help the body heal.
