Am I an enigma?

Ok diagnosed as being post menopausal after periods stopped for over 6 months, was diagnosed with hormone receptor positive breast cancer right around the same time.  shortly after my biopsy i had another period. Doctor siad  not uncommon for post menopausal women who are early on to have an occasional period during the first year or so, but if it kept happening to let him know.  then shortly ( as in 2 days) after my dbl mastectomy had another period.  Now am on the third one!  

am i some kind of medical enigma or should I truly be concerned.  It seems that removing the cancer has somehow reversed my menopause, or are these signs of something else?  Have an apt with oncology on the 17th and will speak with them about it, but should I contact my regular doctor as well?

Breast tissue has a lot of hormones in it so its possible the surgery may have triggered more hormones in your blood stream......but it should only be temporary..............I am not a doctor or nurse i must add.........

I think that is pretty common for perimenopause. My friend didn't havea period for a year and then had one. I agree with Lilly that a Mx disturbs our hormones. My PCP agrees based only on what he's seen in his years of practice.

I had always read that to "officially" be considered menopausal you had to go a year with no period. I spent about four years going months, even nine or ten, without having one, then would be regular for a few months again before I started skipping. When I finally had my hysterectomy I was trying to have one and my pathology showed "weakly proliferative endometrium" at 50

Ok, Well got a phone call from my primary docs office this morning and have some new labs to do and scheduled for a trans-vaginal ultra sound. So they are going to be checking for wandering tribbles! I do not remember putting in a request for a bogo sale. So, On wens 5th I suppose I will find out if I am getting hit with a double whammy. I don't even know what to feel about this.

On a brighter note, I spent the day yesterday helping out with a charity event, and got hear some really wonderful bands for free! I no longer feel nearly as self conscious about not having boobettes, and found that the few people who did have the courage to ask where supportive and great about it. So, I can say that going out into public and doing something for others is a great way to get past the self consciousness that comes with this . I have not smiled or laughed as much since the day I got diagnosed.
