My biopsy was done last Thursday. I was not surprised by the diagnosis. I told the doctor that and after being shocked by my saying that she told me she wasn't surprised either. I don't know any details other than that I will be contacted again tomorrow morning to set up an appointment with a breast surgeon. I'm supposed to go on vacation next week and want to believe that is still going to be OK.

With you for the long haul....

Oh Ginger....Those words just suck big time, don't they?. I'm sorry for the reason you have to be here, but want to welcome you to BCO. You will get a lot of support here on these boards. I would still go on vacation if I were you. Unless you don't think you will enjoy yourself. The beginning part can be overwhelming, but once you get your treatment plan in place, it does get a bit easier. I hope you keep us updated on your progress when you can. Sending you best wishes and gentle hugs!!

So sorry Ginger! I was DX with bilateral IDC. My docs told me to give them a year and they would give me my life back and they did! I am now 2 and a half and life is as normal as it gets after a BC dx. Its a long road, but the ladies and gents here are wonderful and they "get" all aspects of what you are going through, physically and emotionally. Hang in there and take one step at a time. If I were you I would definitely go on vacation next week!

Thanks so much for all of your encouragement! Unless I'm told by the breast surgeon that I can't go on vacation, I'll surely be going! After all, it's VACATION! ;) I'll be glad to get some answers and a treatment plan in place so that I can go about beating this! Thanks again!

I think a week or so isn't going to make a great deal of difference, I would wring as much fun out of a vacation as you can! I think it would give you a mental edge. Sorry to see you here, but I already know you can do it!

Today is my year anniversary from my diagnosis. I have finished chemo, two surgeries, radiation, and started on hormone therapy pills. It's been a long year, but you will keep chugging along. I am feeling pretty good considering, and getting better each day (I just finished radiation six days ago). It takes a while to really get your arms around it, it's scary and crying helps! It will be better as you start getting your pathway together. Ask folks on the boards for help. This has been a lifeline for me! I hope it serves you well too. Good luck!

I'm sorry you have to join us. Not only did I go on vacation before my surgery so did my surgeon. There is usually no huge rush to these things, like it has to be done tomorrow. Definitely enjoy yourself. I did, and hardly thought about BC at all on vacation.

Like others have said, having your treatment plan helps a lot.
