I'm getting nervous

my lumpectomy is on the 28th. I've been handling the fear and stress really well until a few days ago. Now that it is less than a week away I'm getting really nervous. I'm not worried about the surgery, that will be easy, heck I had an outpatient hysterectomy, this sounds like a walk in the park. I'm worried that they will find something worse than DCIS in there. I only had about 20 micro calcs on my mammo and the took most of them out with biopsy. I also stopped my estrogen patch so I've had low estrogen since then. But I'm still worried. :/

I have no idea when I get the pathology report. I was going to get it on the 30th but since my insurance company denied my brachytherapy I am not seeing the surgeon until August 12th. I won't be starting radiation until after we move, some time in September or October. Do the doctors call with the pathology report or wait until you see them

I got mine when I saw my doctor, but he promised to call me if he got it before the appointment. I saw the date of the report - he just received it that day. I know it is hard not to worry, but you should have an answer soon.

CaMommy- When you go in for your surgery, preferably preop visit-ASK when you should expect pathology results. Will depend on day of surgery and surgeon's work schedule but they should know. Both my surgeries were on Wednesdays and I got patho results Monday AM as promised. Some may think the lack of urgency with surgery for DCIS is a positive but it can be disconcerting and stressful to have this delay from biopsy to final diagnosis and treatment. Best of luck to you.

thanks for the replies. I talked to the RO's office today and she said they should have the path report by the next Monday (my surgery is on a Tuesday).

Another DCIS girl here, and another "yes, the waiting's the worst part" Having a pissy insurance carrier isn't helping! Can you send the question along to the surgeon before the surgery? A call? a message?
