NECK SPASMS?
I am over 2 years since dx of triple positive ilc.I have been having neck issues for 6 months. Xray showed neck spasms. It is really uncomfortable all the time. I also have an enlarged cervical lymph node on left side of neck. I am going to be sent to physical therapy. I really hope that helps. I also have some swelling on the lower back of my head.I guess I am just worried about the cancer returning. I see my breast surgeon and oncologist in a couple of weeks so maybe one of them will think I need an mri. Does anyone know what may cause neck spasms? Nurse practitioner couldn't tell me. Sorry. I don't mean to go on and on.I've never posted before.

HI there, I don't have experience with these types of symptoms but know others who may will be by soon . I can suggest if you are worried to just ask MO for a scan - I'd rather ask and be an advocate ... often they will only scan with symptoms and it seems you have some reportable that should be considered. Good luck and keep us posted.

Thank you for responding. I will ask if a scan should be done. I'm normally pretty calm but this has me a little worried. I will post when I find out. Thank you!

I was having terrible muscle spasms multiple places......any chance you recently started on a statin for cholesterol? That is what made mine so much worse

Sorry for not responding sooner. I haven't really been on the computer lately. I don't take anything for cholesterol. I am supposed to go to physical therapy for my neck spasms. I have a doctor appt today. I just worry about the brain I guess. My aunt had brain cancer at the age of 42 and died 9 years later. Maybe I'm overly concerned. However, I have been having head pain more in the back and it feels a little swollen to me at the bottom of my head. Maybe I'm just going crazy. I was nauseated yesterday and my head and neck just never feel ok. I also feel like I don't want to lift my eyes up very far (weird). I read that herceptin can't cross the 'blood-brain' barrier. If I'm understanding this correctly, it means that if cancer cells traveled to the bloodstream to the brain then herceptin treatment can't travel to the brain and that doctors should look for that to be a place of recurrance. I have never had my brain scanned. I just don't know whether to push for a test. I try to trust the docs. I would just like to feel better. There was life before breast cancer, and now there if life after breast cancer. Big difference.
