Anyone else basically alone/minimal help?

Seems like you're recovering well. If you need a port, the placement procedure is out patient and does not require general anesthesia. You will need to have someone drive you home, however, because they will give you pain meds and a drug like Versed so you will be a bit out of it. You won't need any help afterwards. Some people even start chemo the next day! Take care and continued good healing.

Thank you! I just looked in my mail and BC has not certified my inpatient stay (8/6-8/8)! I know they booked it as an outpatient 23 hour stay but I stayed cuz of pain. So do I contact my bs office who got the cert supposedly to fix? I know they will need notes stating why I was not out on time...

I had my port placed the day I started chemo. Our daughter was 5 at the time. I felt that I needed help caring for her, but would have been fine on my own, take care of yourself!

I have had Kaiser for so many years, that I have forgotten how traditional insurance works. I would think that your doctor's office could contact your insurer to straighten things out

I would contact the docs office and ask for their help. Dang but at one point I was getting big bills for a PCD visit, I freaked and actually, they had miss coded something and they easily fixed it

I got mine placed a couple if weeks before starting, to allow for some healing. Had it done with twilight sleep at the hospital day surgery unit. It was a painless procedure but I was quite sore afterwards for more than a week. But I know others who didn't experience anything more than mild discomfort.

I also know of a few cases where, due to circumstances beyond their control, had port placed and went right in to first chemo. I would try to avoid that.mits a lot for the body to handle.

Thanks. Going to call my bs office about denial. Also, for ER+ you're supposed to avoid soy... what non stick cooking spray do you use? I got TJ's coconut oil before sx and found soybean oil in it!

soy is really hard to avoid, my MO said not to get nuts over it but not to switch to soy milk

that was after I got nuts in her office for eating some soy beans in a Japanese res.

I do not think the amount of soy oil in a cooking spray will be an issue but do check your doc if you are concerned

I got 2 drains out today of the 4 which is the good news. Bad news is seems my guinea pig has a problem. Found some blood in urine and seems to be some on her fleece as well. Not a ton but with gps, they can go down fast. I kinda noticed she wasn't drinking/peeing much but didn't think much about it until now. Could be a urethra stone/infection. Don't know.

Her vet is in San Jose, Cherry and Almaden. A good 45-50 min drive is no major traffic. Have appt for Sat am 8:30 when Anna can drive me but not sure good idea to wait cuz can't force liquids down. She won't have it. So if it looks worse before Sat, I'll just have to drive myself there and drop her off until they figure and fix it. Last time she had a upper respiratory infection and the anti biotics stopped her from eating. Wound up having the doc board her at her home to do the feeds cuz I couldn't do it. This was 2 years ago. Man being alone and then this sucks. It was pricey 2 years ago.

Thankfully Mooshy is looking better but still am keeping the Sat appt with her vet, and have my friend drive me to South San Jose.

Today I went to Safeway (3 mi to and 3 mi back). Driving was fine. Walked several isles ok. Was getting a bit tired at the end. Still can't lift more than 5 lbs at a time so created smaller bags best I could. Then had to climb these steep steps to get into the apt. 3-4 trips. Don't think I did any damage as everything feels the same, except my upper back! Man is it achy. Weird cuz I usually have lower back issues but not now.

may I suggest hot or cold on the back? my back is crankie and that is what the chiro does for me but best check with docs as well

literally just saw your reply and could have really used the drivers for survivors over the past year...i just finished my last herceptin/perjeta infusion and am still in pain from surgery now almost a year ago. i hope you are doing better! xo.
