Explosions in the Sky "Your Hand in Mine"
This is how all you ladies make me feel....your hand in mine.
-
This was my husband the year before he died............The last picture is him with Bobby's Mom who is now31
-
whoa, gorgeous couple!
-
Wow, you two look like a scene from a movie! And I agree with Katy, your whole family looks like a bunch of athletes! My family photos are more likely to feature people holding six packs, not sporting them.
-
the view from CrazyTown. Because why not?
-
Your family is beautiful Ducky!
-
Love the pictures Ducky and Octogirl!
-
Poppy! What are YOU doing up so late?!?! I thought I was the only one up around here! I've been sitting out on the porch in a big overstuffed chair, looking at that wonderful view, just thinking' 'bout stuff, nice you made it! It was so nice to see you, I felt like the time just went by too fast. I am glad you were there too, and you know, I love driving that car so much, I would come see you in a heartbeat! You aren't that far away! I would really like that. I know you and Bep see each other more often than I do, but I have to tell you: I really am such a hermit, but I am easily pried out of my house by the good women I have found here.
I was supposed to go to a bachelor party today, but I just didn't have it in me. I probably will never have another chance at one, since all the women I know are older, but I just couldn't make myself do it. It was at my old bosses house, with some of the women I worked with at the Autry (cowboys and indians!) museum.... I really guess i wasn't ready to put on a game face.
So you see how I choose to spend my social hour~ , HERE and in person. So just to let you know how much i did love sitting down at a table, with you.

Ducky, thanks for posting that wonderful, glamorous wedding photo! And the lovely one you posted later, of your DH and granddaughter. Those are indeed the things that help us keep the people we love in our hearts. I was thinking recently of how it was before photography, when a sketch or likeness of some sort would have to do.
Cubbie, that is very funny about holding, as versus having, six-packs. Very few six-packs in my family, though there are a number of long, thin, string beans. (Not me, however.)
Octo, gorgeous photos. Would they happen to be in a national park, the sort of place you can get a lifetime pass to visit after a certain birthday?
Tomboy, that's awesome that you worked at the Autry museum! I'm deeply impressed.
Goin' tomorrow for a genetics consult. It's not so much for me as because I have sisters and nieces, and it seems like a good idea; we're Ashkenazi Jews, so it's possible there are issues that could follow into the next generation. One of my sisters found out during a pregnancy consult that she's a carrier for Tay-Sachs. I'm still a little hazy about whether insurance will pay, but the hospital has been pretty good about getting these things in place.
But in the meantime, laundry, perhaps a wash of the kitchen floor, and the NY Times....

duckyb, your DH had very kind eyes. Your DD strongly resembles him in the photo. Octogirl, your pictures are making me so happy. I rarely get out except for work. I miss nature. Tomboy, depending on when you worked at the Autry we may have friends in common! I work at the Music Center. PoppyK always nice to see you. Jan, how are you feeling? 7of9 always praying for you. Rainny, good luck with the genetic testing. It was interesting to feel out we have a mutation. It probably wouldn't have shown up years ago when my sister had bc. Did I tell you all that another bco member is a very distant relative of mine? We share the Kellogg family genes and our common ancestors are from long ago before our trees split. My grandmother was a Kellogg. Anyway, ducky this is for you. The other light of my life. My grandson Ayden. He's turning 4 on the 23rd.
-
beautiful, Octo! A great way to start the day.
-
hm,m,, post lost but all photos are adorable, something wierd is going on with my little notepad
-
Molly.. Adyn is very cute.!!
Ducky.. Great family pics...like the old saying .. a family that plays together stays together !! .. Great family.!! :-)
Octo.. Thanks for sharing your photos !!
-
Molly, your grandson is adorable! What a sweet little face. That's very interesting that another member of BCO turned out to be a relative.
What a beautiful photo, Octo. Thanks for sharing!
In honor of the fact that I am missing my hair very much today (it's growing slowly and is about 2-2 1/2 inches long), here's a photo from maybe 8 years ago. We were at a Pete Seeger concert at Lincoln Center. I especially miss that feeling of slight resistance as you pull the brush through it. Well, and the way it looks. And, for that matter, I miss Pete Seeger! We were so lucky to see him live.
-
Octo- Great photos of Yosemite!! I miss it a lot. I grew up there for awhile I lived in Wawona and in Fish Camp. The good ol days when my mom used to let my brother and I play in the Merced River without any supervision. We did so many things and had so much fun there. Makes me think of my mom who passed away in 2000. I'm glad that you are enjoying the Valley so much and I hope that you get to explore less crowded areas, as well.
All of the photos that everyone have posted are great. So nice to see that the words on the blog actually belong to real people. I'm glad that you all don't forget that.
I told one of my best friends today that I have BC. awww. And in an hour I'm going to have cocktails with another group that my family and I have hung around with for years. I'll tell them, too. I hope that I don't cry. And I have to tell them that I am so grateful for their friendship but that I'd rather just be with my family now. For now. I hate cancer.
-
Nicephoto, rainny. Great to see your pretty face. Who's the cutie with you?
-
mags, do not feel compelled to tell any one before you are confee, best wishes
-
one more classic shot....
-
Molly....your grandson is gorgeous.....what a cutie pie.....and that sweet little face........
-
The little girl with my husband is my grandaughter..........she is now 31, and is Bobby's Mom.
-
Molly, that's my son. That's how I can date the photo to about 8 years ago, by which Little League shirt he was wearing!
Mags, you don't have to tell anyone until you're ready. I let the word out very slowly, and I did quite a bit of it via email so people could react to the news in private.
-
Rainny.. Beautiful photo :-)
-
Ducky- awesome photos. I love your wedding picture!
Octo- I can just feel and smell all that fresh air!!
Rainny- you are beautiful and your hair will grow! I promise. I was bald last year at this time. I have tons of thick curly hair. Weird. Never would have thought it. It's amazing. Praying for fast regrow!!
Mags- Don't be compelled to tell people anything. I live in a very small community. I told virtually very few people. I didn't want people gossiping about me or pity or people avoiding me because they didn't know what to say. Only a few very close trusted friends and close family. I am a very private person anyway.
Hugs to all!! We ordered a pizza🍕🍕🍕and watching Oscars!!

Love all the photos of beautiful children, majestic mountains, and particularly being able to put a face with our Dear Rainny's posts. I have you well fixed in my head now. Hoping that in a few months you can enjoy that gentle tug of a brush through your hair again. But just for the record, you were already quite beautiful in my mind, because of your generous sharing of spirit. There were very few blanks to fill in!
And Mags, what the others said. It's your story to tell. Your way. Your time. Or not at all
-
I didn't want to tell anyone for awhile. I'm glad that I told a few friends and I hope that they appreciate that I want to just be with my family now.
Rainyc- great hair, cute son, and Pete Seeger. We would totally get along!
Ducky- great photos!. You have a great family it seems!
Here's to a great week for everyone...
-
