After waiting very anxiously for biopsy results, I was just diagnosed yesterday with ALH in my left breast. Six years ago, a biopsy turned up ADH in my right breast and after surgical excision, it turned out to be DCIS. I already have LCIS in both breasts.

I've been doing a little research and haven't found much on ALH. I understand it puts you at greater risk for a future breast cancer and that it isn't much to worry about as surgery takes care of it, but I will see my BS on Monday and get a little more information and schedule the surgery.

Can anyone here point me to more info about ALH? These boards are awesome and helpful and supportive and informational and I really appreciate breastcancer.org for being here.

of the 4 conditions that you listed (ADH, ALH, LCIS, DCIS), the DCIS is the most serious and you have already been treated for that back in 2009 (if I'm understanding correctly). The next most serious is the LCIS; it confers double the risk of ADH/ALH . (you already have ALH if you have LCIS; it is the step preceeding LCIS). So even though they just "found" the ALH, you most likely have had it all along, since you were diagnosed with LCIS in 2009. So, I wouldn't get too upset at this finding of ALH. Biopsies get upgraded anywhere from 15-30% of the time, but that means that 70-85% of the time, nothing more serious is found. Hang onto those #s, they're huge! Let us know how it goes, we're all here to help.
