Inflamed lymph vessels on side of mastectomy

Hello everyone.

My mother was diagnosed with Stage I BC 2.5 years ago and mastectomy of right breast was done. A month ago she did tumor marker tests and went to surgeon for checkup and everything was fine. 2 days ago, she got large 15cm red patch on right arm near elbow. She went to her GP who said that it's probably inflammation of lymph vessels and gave her antibiotics and then she added, but some recurrences could also show up like that. Now she is petrified and I don't know what to tell her. I mean GP is not even specialist for that, why would she say smth like that, and I don't know if this is possible or did any of you had recurrences that showed like this?

Thank you very much

Mom just told me that 5 days ago doctor did ultrasound of that right scar and below right armpit and didn't notice anything.

Does anyone know would it be even possible that recurrence manifests itself like this with fine tumor markers and fine ultrasound of breast and lymph nodes of that arm?

I've never heard of that (which doesn't mean it can't happen...just never heard of a recurrence to skin in the arm). Maybe she could go to a dermatologist for another opinion.

Hello and thank you for reply.

She went to dermatologist who said that it's not skin issue (since apparently when lymph vessels are swollen it's not the thing for dermatologist).

I think she will go tomorrow to her surgeon, maybe she will need doppler ultrasound to check arm.

I also never heard of that type of recurrence and I don't want to excessively Google...tumor markers are fine which is good I guess, and lymph nodes under that arm are fine according to ultrasound. I wouldn't even think of recurrence if GP didn't mention that.
