New Recommendations Could Limit Access to Mammograms

There was full page ad in the Sunday NYTimes with interesting info. Apparently there are new guidelines in the works which would mean insurance companies don't need to cover the cost of mammograms for women under 50 and will only cover the cost once-every-two-years for women 50-74. More info here

I feel like we need to write our representatives (and ask our family and friends to speak out too). This is crazy. My tumor was found by a mammogram (and very experienced radiologist) when I was 46. If I had waited, my outcome might be very different.

    I have actually heard this before - can't remember where though. Nuts. I faithfully did my mammos every year and from one year to the next I still ended up with a 2.8 cm tumor. Don't even want to think where I'd be if I were going every 2 years for mammos.
