MRI results now an ultrasound on the other breast
i was dx with LCIS on my left breast in May. I went to see a BS that I really like and was sent for an MRI, but I had to wait until the swelling went down from the biopsy and after my next period. I had the MRI without and then with contrast on Tuesday, July 6th. The BS called me this morning and said everything is ok on the left side, but there is a small nodule on the right breast that he said wasn't on the mammo. So he has ordered an ultrasound and if at the time, it looks suspicious I will have a biopsy right then. I'm completely floored. I have fibrocystic breasts and have had cysts in both. I'm hoping that's what this is. I'm also very grateful that I seem to be in very good hands. It's just that waiting is the hardest. I am really trying to stay positive. My appt is this Friday, so again very grateful for the fast turn around since I waited 5 weeks for the MRI.
Sending prayers and hugs.

Positive thoughts coming your way!!!

Dear 55Sunshine:
Good luck. The ultrasound guided biopsy is much easier than an MRI guided biopsy. Thank G-d that the LCIS was diagnosed and that the MRI discovered the other nodule. Keep a positive attitude that the nodule is benign. Most lumps are benign. The waiting is the worst but at least, the doctor scheduled you quickly. I hope that you get positive results. Good luck with your treatment for the LCIS.

I understand how you feel. I was diagnosed in June of 2014 and had issues on both sides. They finally decided, after several biopsies, that the left was ok, but cancer on the right. I was all set to have a lumpectomy, had my mind made up, all said and done and then, they decided to do an MRI. That is when they found other issues on the right they had not seen before. So, I wound up with a mastectomy, which was NOT what my plan was. But, the reason I tell you this is that in the end, after I had time to regain my senses, I realized, it was a blessing they did the MRI because I might have just had the lumpectomy and left something behind that may have caused problems later. So, these test are a pain, literally, but in the end, you do need all the information in order to make informed decisions. I see that now.

Thank you for the inspiration everyone. I am very grateful that I have a wonderful BS and his team is amazing. I am getting ready to go to my appt and I praying for a positive result.
So, I ended up having a core needle biopsy on the right side. Now I have a matching pair of clips. I may have to have an MRI guided biopsy. The Dr said she wasn't 100% positive this was the same spot that the MRI showed. She said it was very close. I should have the results on Monday afternoon. I am really scared about this. It sounds positive in that if it's bc then it's in the early stage. I have a lot of decisions to make. I don't know that I can mentally go thru this every six months.

I should have my biopsy results today. I'm so scared right now. I tried to stay positive this weekend, but it was extremely hard. My mind kept thinking of the worst scenario. I know that whatever the dx I will get thru this with God's guidance and my family's support and that's my saving grace right now.
Deep breaths. Sending prayers for everyone.
