I finished treatment almost one year ago, and during a routine scan of my chest, lungs and abdomen, they found a blood clot in my lung. Might be a result of the chemotherapy .......but doctor said we may never know what caused it. I have been put on Blood thinners and they will be doing more tests .

Any of you ladies have experience with blood clots after treatment was done , if so what was your treatment for them?

Thanks for your help

A blood clot was found in my lung during a routine CT scan. They did some blood work (tests) and determined I would be prone to blood clots from then on. I was placed on blood thinners for the rest of my life. Oncologist never said that it was caused by the Chemo, but I am 53 years old and have never had a blood clot before in my life. He put me on Xarelto.

    hi Texasrose

Thank you so much for your response. I am so scared at the moment. They put me on Xerelto as well.

I was on the Internet and the stuff I was reading has scared me. I read that the clot could mean I may get cancer somewhere else in my body.

Did you get an explaination for your clot, or was it just one of those things that may never be explained.

What did your oncologist say regarding this clot and how it may related to cancer?

Hey Canadian21...The Oncologist I was seeing at the time did not mention that it could be related to cancer. But when they found the blood clot they also found a 1.3 cm nodule in my right lung. PT scan done and it was identified as metastatic breast cancer. Started with a new Oncologist and started chemo again and my first scan is next Monday....hoping for good results! I will see my Oncologist next Friday....I will ask her if the two are related. Stay strong!!!

I am sorry texasrose that you are going through this once again. Praying you will have good results from scan on Monday.

My inital scans at the time of my diagnosis showed lung nodules, that is the reason they continue the scans , just to keep an eye on them. They keep coming back as stable, which is a good sign I hope. This blood clot is a new development for me.

Canadian21...so glad to hear your scans are good! As long as you take your Xarelto you should be fine with the blood clot also!
