I had LVNT surgery in June (another story--another forum!) and as a result went off Aromasin for almost a month. I dropped 5 pounds without doing a thing, started sleeping 100x times better and my partner swears my mood swings disappeared. I went back on after the surgery but I saw my oncologist today and she said I should go off it at least for the summer. Wondering about other people's experiences!

My Dr said that it is very dependent on the type of cancer that you have (how hormone driven etc.) that determines how effective hormone therapy will be. In my case, I also had a complete pathological response to chemo and I have had my ovaries removed. She feels that 6 and a half years MAY be enough but during my 3 month break she is investigating other "lighter" medications. Aromasin has (like for many of you) caused me to put on weight and made it very tough to take off. My onc also wants to give me a chance to get in shape and lose some of the weight.

Good for you! How wonderful to lose weight and feel better immediately.

I'm the worst case scenario for Stage III, so my onc says I'll be on Femera indefinitely. I think she is a bit surprised I'm still around. I gained weight and have fatigue, but all that is ok since it seems to be working.

I'm being told I need to stop Arimidex after almost 9 years on it as I'm nearing osteoporisis in my spine (in spite of annual Reclast infusions). I'm stalling unitl my next DEXA scan in  December because I'm afraid to switch to Tamoxifen like they want me to. At least I can cope with the Arimidex side effects (stiff joints, etc) but Tamoxifen is unknown territory for me which is a scary thing.

Will be interested to read other's posts about this...

Sugarplum, I switched from Femara to Tamoxifen at 5 years and feel so much better! No more aching feet in the morning or stiff joints all the time. So don't be afraid of Tamoxifen, you just might like it.

Sugarplum - I only have major hot flashes on Tamoxifen. A little joint pain but could be from something else. Don't worry except for the flashes . Hope you have moved past those but not sure Tamoxifen still produces them after 5 years of an inhibitor.
