Mammogram why so long a wait

My daughter, age 32 had an ultrasound (i posted in another thread about this) last week. She had a lump in her breast, and the US showed it was a fluid filled cyst. At the time the Radiologist, who my wife has been going to for many years, told her that a mammogram wasnt necessary, since the ultrasound was clean (and confirmed the findings of a previous US done elsewhere 2 months ago) but might not be a bad idea considering the family history.

After the mammogram the Dr who saw her had to leave, so she was told results would be Monday. Then after ,the Mammogram, the pictures were shown to his partner, who asked for another picture. This by itself is making me very nervous.

After a weekend of anticipation and wrangled nerves, she called this morning and was told that if she had the Mammogram on Thursday, the results would be ready tomorrow. My daughter, not being experienced with such things at age 32, did not push back at all. But i dont understand what the reason for this could be. It takes 10 minutes to look at a mammogram, especially an extra picture. Why are they delaying?

Any comments with knowledge of the process would be appreciated. When my wife goes to these guys she gets at least preliminary results on the spot.

They aren't delaying. It may only take 10 minutes, but that doesn't mean there were not 200 ahead of hers plus it was a holiday weekend. I wait a lot longer than that. It just depends on how busy the facility is. The one I go to is very, very busy

my latest mamo was last Wed and my results are not in yet, at my place it is mailed and that is 5 days so with the holiday.....I am 7 years out and considered to be in long term followup now

Hi. I live near Chicago and went to a breast center.. Breast centers give results same day before you leave. If you live in an area that has one maybe schedule your next exam there , if at all possible . Please keep us poste

Thank you. The Practice she went to specializes in Breast radiology or womens health screening. (not sure what else to call it). So i thought she would get the results quickly, like my wife does. But whatever, hopefully we get some news tomorrow and more hopefully its good news.
