I am just 50. As part of my 50 year physical, I had a routine Mamogram. I then received a letter telling me that I have scattered fibrograndular breast tissue density and to call my doctor and schedule an MRI. When I called my doctor's office they suggested an ultrasound first.

I had the ultrasound Tuesday and it was a holiday weekend ... So I am nervous. I have been researchering and the more I do, the more nervous I get. I have NF1, I have never had children. I have not ever really eaten healthy and I am barely active. I am about 20# overweight.

What in the world do I do while I wait for results.

"Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow. It empties today of its strength." -- Corrie Ten Boom
I love that one of my favorite quotes appears at the top of this page, from a woman with one of the great inspirational stories of all time.

I have had many ultrasounds following mammograms over the years, so I became quite comfortable and not worried about it at all. This past March, I received a phone call asking me to schedule an ultrasound and diagnostic mammogram after my initial mammogram.  After reading the ultrasound and diagnostic mammogram, the radiologist talked to me, and told me I would need to have biopsies of each breast, core needle biopsy on the left, stereotactic on the right, and that I would need to see a surgeon.  He also told me that it was not an emergency, but that I should not wait for more than 30 days to have the biopsies.

So from my experience, you might conclude that the length of time to find out ultrasound results suggests no need for further action.  Ultrasound following mammogram is certainly not an indication of a serious issue.

I too am waiting for tests/results and I know how you feel. Here is something I found:

"According to the American Cancer Society, about 10% of women who have a mammogram will be called back for more tests. But only 8% to 10% of those women will need a biopsy and 80% of those biopsies turn out be benign."

    http://www.webmd.com/breast-cancer/features/abnormal-mammogram-results

It sounds like you are one of the 10% called back for additional tests after a mammogram. But it also sounds like the odds are overwhelmingly in your favor.
