Jo: I'm not sure what the blistering may indicate. Don't hesitate to call the office; hopefully there is someone covering who you can speak with or see if necessary. Let them know what is going on, and what they recommend. If you can't reach them, did the hospital discharge instructions include a number for you to call if any issues come up?

    Sending healing thoughts your way.

Hopefully you will get more input from people who have been through this.

Hi Jo. I am 3 weeks out from LD flap. I encourage you to monitor your temp over the weekend, and note any feelings of nausea. Also check the flap regularly for redness moving up from incision towards your armpit. If any of these signs occur before you see the PS I would recommend getting it checked by a - we call it a general practitioner, but I think you guys refer to it as a primary care provider? - with a view to getting onto oral antibiotics ASAP. My skin blistered - no blue black areas as far as I know - and that seems to have led to wound break down and a persistent infection this past week. My PS has seen this since it occurred. He tells me this is not unusual because the skin is left very fragile after surgeries to remove breast tissue. He says it will heal but may take several weeks.

So, probably safe to wait but be vigilant about monitoring for signs of infection and act swiftly if they occur.

I hope I haven't frightened you. Good luck
