Hello, Diagnosed May 2015
Hello,
I was diagnosed May 8,2015.I found a lump on my Right Breast April 17, 2015. Called my Gyno and spoke with nurse that told me to stop drinking soda for a week then let her know if lump is still there. I did as she said. May 7, 2015 I seen gyno that checked lump and said it felt good, and not anything to worry about. But wanted me to have a mammogram anyway and since I am 39 she would be requesting one anyone when I came in for yearly.
May 8, 2015 I went for the mammogram. Had mammogram and ultrasound done. 4 People walked in room to tell me I have Breast Cancer, my world stopped. I was shaking & crying. They made an appt. for a breast surgeon on May 11 and biopsy to be done May 12. I left the office in tears, shaking. Got to my car and had a complete meltdown, I still don't remember the 30 minute drive on the freeway from the office to home. I was so scared, and all I could think about were my boys and hubby. Mothers Day weekend was awful for me.
May 11, Meet with surgeon, hubby went with me. Surgeon said definatly surgery.
May 12, Biopsy...
May 19, results from Biopsy. It is BC, very small.... Lymph node biopsy did not have enough to get any info.
May 22, appt. with surgeon.... the tumor is in the Duct. In situ, Infiltrating, 1.7 cm in size. Stage 1. Treatment order: Surgery,If Needed: Chemo, Radiation, Hormonal therapy. He kept saying if needed on the Chemo. He ordered a MRI. of both breasts.
May 28. MRI today.
June 1, Surgeon called with MRI results.... MRI sees things that may or may not be important so he wants me to have a ultrasound.
June 3, Ultrasound today. The Ultrasound Dr. checked the images and gave me the results right there.! There were 2 places they were checking and they could not find anything at all on the right breast other than the lump that is the tumor. Left side he said was nothing as well.
June 4, Pre surgery testing. Blood test and checked heart & lungs.
June 8, Surgery. lump removed and several lymph nodes. Invasive ductal carcinoma, 1.7 cm. Grade 1.. Lymph nodes Uninvolved 0/4, stage 1A
June 11, Dr, called, he got all of the tumor and cancer did not go to lymph nodes.
June 23, meet with surgeon for follow up after surgery. Incisions look great.! Everything was great, he gave me a 2 thumbs up. Still waiting on results from DX test. This is what my results from testing of tumor and lymph nodes are. Invavsive ductal carcinoma, Grade 1. ER-Positive , PR- Positive, Ki67-8%, HER2(IHC)-Negative, HER2(FISH)- Negative. I don't know what all that means but I guess its good, I got a 2 thumbs up !
June 29. meet with Radiation Dr. I was told I am to have NO Blood pressure or Blood draws on Right arm. He explained a lot, I will go for 6 weeks, 5 weeks whole breast and 1 week boost on the area where lump was. They will put markers with a marker and a piece of sticky saran wrap on my breast area. I wont feel, see, taste or hear the radiation. It wont make me sick, may make my skin tender.... or blistery. They have creams for that. I cannot wear deodorant that has aluminum in it. Toms of maine is what they suggested. They suggested I wear a front opening bra and shirt to make my appts. quicker. I will have a cat scan done first, then they do a dry run. He did give me my results for my DX test... 7 !
I will have to get my arm up over my head and lie flat on table.... I am so worried about that. I cannot lie flat yet, and I cannot get that arm up over my head. It pulls too much, I am still swollen under the arm... and its uncomfortable.
June 29. I left Radiation office and immediately called surgeon.... spoke with nurse to get results from DX test. She said the score was 7. I have no idea what that meant so of course I asked. She simply said... No Chemo.!
I have an appt. with a medical oncologist scheduled for this week, I will call today to see if I have to keep that appt.
That is where I am now.... waiting for radiation to start. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get the arm more mobile... like over my head... and me laying flat.!
